Release years of toxins from your body with Beachbody’s Ultimate Reset!

I’ve been talking about synthetic chemicals and how to protect yourself by avoiding them for a while. But the truth is they are everywhere and even with the best efforts to avoid them, we are saturated with them. I will refer you to the great book “Hundred Year Lie – How to protect yourself from the chemicals that are killing you” to get more information. But it’s not all doom and gloom. You can take steps to limit the exposure, and even better news, you can release years of toxins from your body.

Along with the goal to find a detox, I was also gaining body fat the last couple of months and overall feeling terrible and unmotivated to work out. So I decided to purchase the Beachbody Ultimate Reset and start the year off on a strong note.I’m happy to report I’m on day 15 of the Ultimate Reset and no migraine headaches and no explosive ….um….yeah. The promise of “a gentle cleansing of the colon” holds true!!! I’m down 9 pounds and that has been huge for me.  But some history… After getting great results with the Body Beast last November, I thought the extra body fat I gained could quickly get knocked out. But after a stomach flu and then finding an excuse to not work out, the body fat kept gaining. It didn’t help that I kept eating the high level of calories that are required to supported Body Beast…so there I was at 183 lbs.

Remember I lost 50 pounds with P90x 2 years ago and reached an all time low of 162. I eventually leveled out to 165-168 for the next two years. I then used Body Beast to get that upper body I never really had and reach 178, mostly lean muscle mass. But the path I took to 183 is all fat. I know 4 to 6 pounds might not sound like much, but when the pants no longer fit right, and darn it…that 6 pack I got really close to defining is layered in new fat…ugh. I just felt like crap.

So I’m super excited with the results. I love the recipes that come with the program and supplements are all natural. Here is a great video from the creator of Shakeology and the Ultimate Reset explaining this in more detail.

Now a reminder, you cannot do intensive work outs while doing the Rest. Why? A couple of reasons. The main one is to achieve the befits of a cleanse, and rest plays a huge part in this process. Second,working out using the low-calorie Reset is counterproductive. It’ll trigger all kinds of stress hormones, including cortisol, and catabolism (the breaking down of muscle for fuel) is almost guaranteed.  So they call for rest, mild exercise like walking or Tia Chang, and clean eating. For those familiar with the great book “Fit For Life” written by the Diamonds back in the 70s, then the eating lifestyle is pretty darn close. I love love love Fit For Life and still highly recommend that book today.

I thought I would end with a great recipes from the Reset that I just love. I was never a beet lover, but this recipe made me a believer!!! So much I double/triple batch it to last me into the week.

My favorite recipe from Beachbody’s Ultimate Reset

  • 1/4 medium sized yam, washed and cut into 1 inch chunks
  • 1/2 large carrot, washed and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1/2 large beet, washed and cut into 1 inch chunks
  • 1/4 yellow onion, peeled and cut into large wedges
  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Himalayan salt (to taste)
  • Optional recommended by Tom (1/2 teaspoon cumin)

Preheat Oven to 400 degree F. In a bowl, toss in all ingredients together. Spread on a cookie sheet and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until tender, turning once or twice to prevent burning. Serves 1
